If you want to send photo's to women you are writing to you will need some form of graphics software on your computer. The majority of you will be running Windows 98/ME/XP and there is a graphics program called paint that comes bundled with your version of Windows. You can find the program by clicking on start/programs/accessories/paint. It's not much use though!

You should invest in some decent graphics software like Paint Shop Pro. The current version costs about $100 (Ј75) and can be found in all good computer stores. You can download a time limited copy here: Jasc Software A number of computers magazines will include older full versions of Paint Shop Pro for free. Usually version 5 and this is still a very good program for the price of a magazine.

Once you have installed it on your pc go and open it up and have a play with it! The default folder for installation can be found by clicking on start/programs/jasc software/paint shop pro. When you open Paint Shop Pro (PSP) for the first time you will be asked which files you want to associate PSP with. Tick all. If you have a scanner and some photo's you are now able to get them onto your computer now!! 

With PSP open click on file/import/twain/acquire. PSP will see your scanner is installed and will fire it up and your photo will be scanned and will appear on your screen in the PSP program. Now depending on your scanner set up, your photo will be a certain size. It may be a huge file size. If you look in the right hand corner of your screen the image size will be displayed something like: Image: 400 x 600 x 16 million - 2.5 meg. All this information refers to the dimensions of the picture 426 x 600, the number of colours 16 million, and the file size 2.5 meg. This size is way too big to send online via our letter sending service.

You need to resize your image. Here's how to do it in PSP.

With your new scanned image open click on the top toolbar option image/resize. When the pop up appears tick the % box and enter 50 and click ok. The image size will reduce a lot! Take a look at the figures in the bottom right hand corner. They will have changed and the important thing is the file size. It could read 1 meg now. Try and resize down to about 500Kbytes and this should be small enough to send online. If you make a mistake click on the undo button which is located under the top toolbar and looks like a curved arrowed. There are some useful tools down the left hand side of PSP. Hover over them and a description of the action for each tool will appear. Click on the second one down that looks like a small magnifying glass. Your mouse pointer will change to this symbol. Now left click on your image and you will zoom in. Right click to zoom out. There is a cropping tool 2 options down from the zoom tool. This is useful for cutting away parts of an image you don't want.

Now you are ready save your image on your computer. If you look at your image in the top left hand corned a file name has been associated with this image and should read Image 1*. To save the image click on file/save as/ Now you should get a pop up box where you will choose where to save your file. As you are going to send this image online with a letter you are going to need to save it somewhere on your computer where you can locate it easily and upload it with your letter. So let's save it on your desktop. In the pop up box there will be a drop down menu called save in. Tick the down arrow and select desktop. Now in the file name box name your image simply. john, bob, matt whatever and then in the drop down menu called save as type click the down arrow and select JPEG. If you can't find this just name your image and put.jog after it: john.jpg or john1.jpg etc etc. Now click save. Go to your desktop and you should find the saved file on there somewhere. Double click on it to open it again just to check it's ok!

Now you are ready to upload your photo image to your photo manager on our website. For the purposes of this tutorial we are going to add a photo but not send a letter. So select any lady, it doesn't matter which as we're not going to send a letter to her. Click on the send a letter button on her page. Enter your email address and password. On the next page is where you can write a letter but as we are not going to do this just click on the add/remove photo's button. Now you are in your photo manager. You can add 6 photo's to it! But for now we are going to add just the one you have saved on your desktop. There will be boxes numbered 1 to 6 with a browse button for each box. Click on the browse button. A pop up will appear allowing you to locate your photo image. If it has not loaded with the desktop selected choose the desktop from the drop down selection. Now all your files on your desktop will be displayed. Click on your photo image file you saved earlier and click on open. Now the location to this file will be entered into the box next to browse. Now most important is to click on 'continue with photo's' to load your photo into our photo manager. When you do this the page should reload with your image on. And that's all there is to it! To add more photo's follow the procedure above. To remove photo's just click on delete this one. But remember you must click on 'continue with photo's. to complete the action. If you click on quit photo's the photo's will not be added or removed.
